We’re proud to say that CIC now has brand new accessibility adjustments to help people as they cross our site.

The Americans with Disabilities Act has been around since 1990, but has always been changing. With new technology comes new understanding. Everyone has very different needs, and there are always new ways to approach those needs to help out our customers and consumers. We’re proud to say that CIC now has brand new accessibility adjustments to help people as they cross our site.

In accordance with the World Wide Web Consortium’s Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 2.1 (WCAG 2.1) at the AA level, we’ve utilized new tech to create our Accessibility Adjustments. Using these guidelines helps us ensure that we are helping as many people as possible as they visit CIC. WCAG 2.1 was designed to keep in mind: blind people, people with motor impairments, visual impairment, cognitive disabilities and more. The widget will be in the bottom left-hand side of your screen and allows you to toggle several different accessibility options to personalize your experience on CIC. Toggles include Seizure Safe Profile, Vision Impaired Profile, Cognitive Disability Profile, ADHD Friendly Profile, Blind Users (Screen-Reader) and a Keyboard Navigation Motor.

There are several more options, such as section highlights, font sizing, alignment choices, magnifiers, and font alterations such as color, line height and letter spacing.

As this interface is still new, not all pages across CIC will work, however, we are continuing our focus on this. We are still in the process of increasing our accessibility to all Americans on equal footing. We will continually improve our accessibility by adding, updating and improving the options you will see in the user interface and develop new technologies for it as we aim for optimal level of accessibility.

If you do not need the accessibility interface, you can choose to hide the widget. After accepting to hide it, it will remain hidden until you clear your browsing and history data. Until then, the widget will not return. In the meantime, we’re glad to help you personalize your experience on CIC.
